As previously stated, I've been at Loyola a long time. During this time, I have observed that stupidity is seemingly rampant throughout administration. I have also observed that stupidity is making great inroads into the student body.
Some examples of student stupidity:
- Back when I was an undergrad freshman, it was expected of all students to understand how to read a campus map. Now at an alarmingly high rate have to direct freshmen in the right direction of buildings because they can't read the BIG sign 15 feet away from them which states that the building right in front of them is the building they are looking for.
- I can't count all the times I have heard GRADUATE STUDENTS of the SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ask if Lewis Towers, which features a large and easy to read 111 E Pearson address sign at the entrance, is 25 E. Pearson.
- I've lost count of the number of security incidents which are a variation of "I left my expensive item unattended and unsecured for 8+ hours, went across campus, and when I returned it was gone". Theft is bad, but this is sheer carelessness! Always take proper security precautions with your crap and don't leave it out to be stolen.
- I had a student walk into my car on the campus drive and claimed *I * hit him. Good story, but I was stuck behind one of the many trucks on said campus drive and was completely unable to move. So *THIS GUY WALKED INTO A PARKED CAR*
- Lets not forget the sheeple who can't cross a street without being a hazard to themselves as well as everyone who is driving in the immediate area.
This has to stop.
